PRESIDENT JONATHAN DID NOT TAKE ALI MODU SHERIFF TO CHAD, WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH ONGOING INVESTIGATION OF ACCUSATION AGAINST FORMER GOVERNOR

We have noted with surprise, the unnecessary hue and cry raised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other bigoted critics of the Jonathan Administration over the claim that the President is “hobnobbing” with the former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff who was recently accused by the Australian, Stephen Davis of being one of the chief sponsors of the terrorist group, Boko Haram. The totally erroneous basis for that charge was the spurious claim that Senator Sheriff accompanied President Jonathan on his recent trip to Ndjamena as a member of his entourage. Corpers to pay N4,000 to get call-up letters – NYSC

by Isi Esene The National Youth Service Corps has defended its newly introduced policy which requires prospective corps members to pay N 4,000 before accessing their call up letters online. The agency which mobilizes Nigerian graduates for their compulsory one-year service to the nation debunked rumours in certain quarters that the new system was introduced for exploitative reasons. According to Olubunmi Aderibigbe, the NYSC’s spokeswoman, the policy is actually in the interest of the corps members. Aderibigbe who defended this policy on Friday in Abuja said what the NYSC has done is to reduce the cost associated with collection of call up letters.
