NCAA shockingly lifts suspension on ASky Airlines

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA has lifted the suspension placed on Asky airlines last week following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the countries where the airline operates. A statement by the general manager public affairs of NCAA Mr FAN Ndubuoke said the lifting followed the undertaken by the airline to abide by the rules and regulations with a view to curtailing the spread of the deadly virus by not flying to countries where the disease was prevalent Ndubuoke said the NCAA was collaboration with other airliners with a view to curtail the spread of virus and assured that everything possible will be don to ensure the safety of Nigerians. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA), has suspended all ASky Airline operations to Nigeria with immediate effect last week. The lifting of the suspension is shocking since the sub region and even the entire globe are still grappling with how to contain the virus.

President Jonathan Fires GMD Of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Appoints Replacement

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday approved the appointment of new chief executives for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC). Mr. Jonathan chose Joseph Thlama Dawha as the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, NNPC. Mr. Dawha, who is from Borno State to replace Andrew Yakubu. Dawha will oversee the body that plays the key role in Nigeria’s oil sector.  Dawha is expected to retire from the NNPC in less than three months. In addition, the president appointed Anthony Ugonna Muoneke as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation; Ms Aisha Mata Abdurrahman as the NNPC’s Group Executive Director in charge of the commercial and investment portfolios; and Attahiru B. Yusuf as the Group Executive Director in the NNPC, with responsibility for business development. A U.S. medical rescue team has arrived in West Africa to evacuate two Americans seriously ill with the deadly Ebola virus, doctors with Emory University Hospital said on Friday. Medics from the air ambulance have deemed Dr. Kent Brantly and missionary Nancy Writebol stable enough to transport. The small private jet can carry only one patient at a time. It was undetermined on Friday who would come back first. The patients will land at Dobbins Air Reserve Base before being transported 16 miles to a high-security isolation unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Officials expect both will arrive by early next week. The medical evacuations were arranged by the faith-based humanitarian group Samaritan’s Purse, but are being facilitated by the State Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A 42-year- old housewife in Asaba, Delta State, simply identified as Monica (surname withheld) on Sunday was reported threw caution to the wind when she engaged her 17 year-old daughter in a fight for allegedly snatching her boyfriend. Eyewitness said that a scene was created around St. Brigid’s Girls College, Asaba, Sunday afternoon after both of them exchanged blows. As both of them engaged themselves in a fight, motorists on the popular busy road stopped to watch what one of them described as a show of shame. Eyewitness further said that the mother was alleged to have snatched the daughter’s boyfriend, who works in one of the oil companies in Warri. The daughter was said to have become furious when she heard that her boyfriend was caught pants down with her mother in an hotel in the state.
