Jonathan appoints Osita Chidoka Aviation Minister

President Goodluck Jonathan has named Osita Chidoka, the former Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, as new Aviation Minister.

Mr. Chidoka was sworn in Wednesday alongside Abubakar Olanrewaju, who was appointed National Planning Minister.

Mr. Olanrewaju, from Kwara State, replaces Shamsudeen Usman, who was removed last September.
Mr. Chidoka replaces Stella Oduah, fired in February amid allegations of mismanagement of public funds.
Until Mr. Olanrewaju’s appointment, the National Planning Commission was supervised by the Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda.
The two new Ministers were sworn in shortly before the commencement of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, Wednesday.
An indigene of Anambra state, Mr. Chidoka clinched the ministerial post after a bitter political wrangling in his home state compelled President Jonathan to replace the immediate past Anambra governor, Peter Obi, who was earlier tipped for the ministerial post.

Powerful financiers of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had argued that as the leader of the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, which controls Anambra State, Mr. Obi would leave the state PDP disgruntled were he to also be a minister.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday approved the appointment of new chief executives for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC). Mr. Jonathan chose Joseph Thlama Dawha as the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, NNPC. Mr. Dawha, who is from Borno State to replace Andrew Yakubu. Dawha will oversee the body that plays the key role in Nigeria’s oil sector.  Dawha is expected to retire from the NNPC in less than three months. In addition, the president appointed Anthony Ugonna Muoneke as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation; Ms Aisha Mata Abdurrahman as the NNPC’s Group Executive Director in charge of the commercial and investment portfolios; and Attahiru B. Yusuf as the Group Executive Director in the NNPC, with responsibility for business development. Woman Stabs Mother Of One To Death Over Chelsea/Athletico Bet

A woman stabbed her mother in the chest, at Old Ojo Road, Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos State, on Thursday over the soccer match between Athletico Madrid and Chelsea Football Club. The woman, identified simply as Funmilayo, was said to have made a bet that Athletico Madrid would defeat Chelsea while her neighbour, a man identified as Seun, said that the result would be the other way round. They agreed that Funmilayo bet with N1,000 against Seun’s N5, 000 and the duo agreed to respect their side of the bargain, as they gave the money to a woman identified as Anna. Investigations revealed that immediately the match ended in the night, an excited Funmilayo ran to Anna, demanding  the money. Meanwhile, Anna was said to have been shouting at Seun who had wrenched the money from her and left behind only N2, 000. An eyewitness, Martins disclosed that Seun demanded that Anna give N1000 to Funmilayo, because that was the amount she dropped for the betting.

Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor until his appointment as Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara in March 2017, he was a Lecturer in Electrical/Electronics Department, University of Benin, Benin-City with area of specialization in Power Option. On resumption of office as Rector of the Polytechnic, Our Reporters were reliably informed that Engr. Prof. Emmanuel A.
