In defence of her husband, Patrick Sawyer’s widow has explained why he travelled to Nigeria, despite the fact that he knew he was already contaminated with the Ebola virus. She claims he came down the virus because he had faith in Nigeria’s health system than that of his country: “I’ve read other reports in other papers about Patrick’s ‘recklessness’. I get where they’re coming from, and they certainly have the right to feel the way they do. However, as Patrick’s widow, I would like to shed some light on this from another perspective. President Goodluck Jonathan has directed all Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) and Medical Directors of all federal government owned hospitals and health institutions to issue letters terminating the appointment of all resident doctors in training. The made-in-Nigeria Hyundai vehicles have gone into commercial sales in the country, the Stallion Group said yesterday. They are being sold at prices between N1.594 million and N1.990, the Group Managing Director of Stallion Automobile Division, Aprvir Singh, said . Stallion Group Chairman Sunil Vaswani said the vehicles being assembled at the Hyundai Motor Plant in Lagos are “affordably priced,” in order to give Nigerians a break from the strangle-hold of wholesale vehicle importers. Some of the Hyundai passenger cars which are priced between NGN1.5m and NGN1.9m, are i10, Grand, Accent,Elantra and iX35. In the truck and bus segments, the 10-ton HD160, seven-ton HD 120, five-ton HD78 and three-ton HD65 as well as 28+1 seater Hyundai County bus and 30-seater Stallion County bus are now being  supplied to the market. THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the incumbent governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the winner of the 2014 governorship elections. The Returning Officer, Professor Bamitale Idowu Omole, who made the pronouncement at the INEC collation centre along Abere road, said “I hereby declare Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, having satisfied the provision of the Electoral Act, is hereby declared the winner of the Osun state governorship election.” The APC candidate won elections in 22 out of the 30 local government areas of the state scored a total of 394684 to beat his main rival and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, ODP, Senator Iyiola Omisore. Omisore, who won in eight local government areas, scored 292747 votes. A breakdown of the final results shows that Sen Sunday Fajimi of the Alliance for Democracy scored 1982; Aregbesola of the. Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah, has disclosed that he will not go into politics just like his colleagues who are embracing the profession. Ramsey stated that he is a serious minded person and as such, does not have the time for politics. According to the actor, “I am a creative minded person. But the truth I have come to understand is that you could say ‘I will never be there’ but circumstances might even make you do things. Personally, I’m not a keen person, I am not very good at dealing with politics, it is really tough for me.”  He said actors campaign for politicians as their own way of showing support for who they feel is capable of leading the people. Abuja - Alleged Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly taken over abandoned military bases in the terror-stricken Yobe State.   The abandoned sites are in Buni Yadi, Buni Gari and Goniri, in Gujba Local Government Area. Residents lamented they are now exposed to terror attacks amid the absence of security. “We are facing a very terrible situation. There is no single security in our area. The same in Buni Gari and Goniri, in fact the boys ( yaara in Hausa referring to Boko Haram) have taken over the military camps in the areas," said a resident. A top security source who did not want his name in print, confirmed the absence of the military from the bases. “It is not a secret any longer that our forces are no longer in Buni Yadi, Buni Gari and Goniri. We only have our troops at Katarko," he said. Katarko is 22km from Damaturu and 34km from Buni Yadi.
