President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday approved the appointment of new chief executives for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC). Mr. Jonathan chose Joseph Thlama Dawha as the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, NNPC. Mr. Dawha, who is from Borno State to replace Andrew Yakubu. Dawha will oversee the body that plays the key role in Nigeria’s oil sector.  Dawha is expected to retire from the NNPC in less than three months. Farmer Stabs Wife To Death In Ogun

A 47-year-old farmer, Gbenga Ogunfolabo has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for stabbing his wife, Bosede Ogunfolabo, 45, to death with broken bottle during a fisticuff. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement. According to him, the police detectives attached to Ishara division of the command arrested the suspect on Monday, July 21 at Ishara in Remo North Local Government Area of the state few days after he committed the crime.
