NIGERIAN YOUNGEST LEGISLATOR RECIEVES INTERNATIONAL PEACE AWARD
The Deputy
Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi
has received the RHANAS Global Peace Humanitarian Award in recognition
of his exemplary efforts in substantially improving the lives of others
and for his significant contributions in Peace and Humanitarian
services around the world. The International service award was
bestowed on the Deputy Speaker in the United Kingdom at the Royal
Mercure Hotel for his active and leading involvement in human
development through his various human empowerment and development
drives cum education. Other areas where the Deputy Speaker has shown
capacity, exemplary leadership and leading involvement includes:
disaster relief, refugee assistance, civil society, equitable economic
development, health, environment, population, or public policy. The
Deputy Speaker who was astonished by the international recognition said :
"I feel so honoured for this international Award and promise to always
be committed in working throughout the coming years to advance these
most noble ideals, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable
Development Goals." He also called on the international rescue
committee and other international organizations to double effort in
reintegrating persons that have been challenged and displaced as a
result of war and other social disorders especially in West Africa and
Nigeria in Particular. "I will use this opportunity to ask The United
Kingdom Government to help the refugees crisis where possible"; he
added. RHANAS Director, Dr. Salinder Supri shortly before the award
presentation said: "the Award recognizes individuals who have
demonstrated extraordinary leadership in support of Non Government
Organisations (NGO’s) and the people they serve in the developing world
who carry out their work effectively in their own home countries or
regions. The purpose of the Award seeks to honour these individuals for
their bravery and commitment to the most vulnerable populations around
the world". Dr Salinder, also said that the award was to embolden the
Deputy a speaker to do more and applauded his practical involvement in
human empowerment thus far. " The Award is a call to service not just to
one’s own country alone but to the world at large which has now
become a global village where we must all join hands in partnership for
Peace in making it a more better and safer place"; he said.Rt. Hon.
